Q: I have just ordered some anodes to fit on my trim tabs. Do I just bolt them straight onto the trim tab? The one I have taken off had rubber underneath it.

It is not 100% necessary to fit the anode backing pad. The pad stops the back of the anode from wasting away and possibly allowing the anode to come loose. If you ensure that the anodes core bar is clamped (rather than clamping the anode material itself to the trim tab, you will avoid this problem. To do this you may need to screw an extra nut on thread before placing the anode onto the trim tab. If the anode slightly hovers over the trim tab, but is securely mounted, you have been successful.
