Bow & Stern Thruster Anodes
Bow and stern thrusters provide lateral thrust to your vessel - allowing it to move horizontally, rather than just forward and backward, thus making it easier to control and manoeuvre in tight spaces, especially when reversing. Powered by an electric motor or hydraulic system, the only difference between the two is their location - a bow thruster is located at the front of your vessel, whilst the stern thruster is located at the rear.
As your bow and stern thruster are underwater, they'll need to be protected from galvanic corrosion using an anode. Sacrificial anodes are manufactured from alloys such as aluminium, zinc and magnesium, as these metals are more reactive to corrosion than the metal parts of your bow and stern thruster, so will act as "sacrificial" protection to those parts.

Aluminium thruster anodes can be used in fresh or salt water, whilst zinc thruster anodes are recommended for salt water thanks to the metals' superior impact strength. Magnesium thruster anodes should only be used in fresh water, as the alloy reacts far more rapidly when exposed to sea water.
