Whether you have a bow thruster or stern thruster, you'll need to keep it protected from galvanic corrosion with thruster anodes. As aluminium is a more reactive metal than those used on your bow or stern thruster, it will sacrifice itself and corrode, instead of your thruster.
Aluminium anodes are the most versatile out of the three metals used to manufacture anodes (aluminium, magnesium and zinc) as they offer protection in salt and fresh water, whilst magnesium thruster anodes only offer protection in fresh water, and zinc thruster anodes will only keep your saildrive protected in salt water.
