Magnesium Ball Shaft Anodes
Golf ball shaped shaft anodes that sacrifice themselves, protecting your shaft - this is where the phrase 'sacrificial anodes' comes from! The magnesium shaft anodes are typically attached to the shaft of your boat using stainless steel bolts, as stainless steel is a non-corrosive alloy.
Magnesium ball shaft anodes offer far greater protection in fresh water, where there is lower open circuit potential. Aluminium ball shaft anodes can also be used in fresh water, but the level of protection provided by magnesium anodes is far superior. Zinc ball shaft anodes should not be used in fresh water at all.
